Adenosyl-L-Methionine-sulfate-P-toluene sulfonate (SAMET) in the treatment if chronic disorders of joint (Rheumatoid arthritis and Osteoarthritis)

Abstract
|

|
SAMETs (equivalent. to 100mg S-Adenosyl-L-methionine/vial) were administered for 20 patients 4 rheumatoid arthritis and 16 osteoarthritis) one vial I.M. daily for 30 days. Evaluation were carried out at baseline and at every 10th days in pain on movement and at rest by visual analog scale. Swelling and tenderness at affected ´site were rated on 5-point scales. Overall result at the end of 30 days showed that reduction of spontaneous pain was 80.5%, and reduction of intensity of pain on movement was 79.8%, and swelling and tenderness were rapidly subsided.
The oveall assessment after thity days of treatment showed excellent inprovement by both investigato-s and patients opinions.
Side effects were minor digestive trouble, and in no case was the interruption of treatment necessary.
